I chose 1981-1983 because of the number of truly iconic computers released; Sinclair had the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum, Acorn had the BBC Model A/B and the ill fated Electron, Atari released the XL series, Commodore had the Vic-20 and C64, Apple released the IIe and Lisa, Australia's Applied Technology released the Microbee, TI with the 99/4A, Dragon Data released the Dragon 32/64, Memotech came up with the awesomely packaged MTX 500/512, Tangerine had the Oric-1, Sega the SC-3000/H, and Dick Smith sold the VZ-200.
And of course, it was 1981 or 82 that I got my first computer :)
Why?
